
The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection reported that, between midnight and noon, there were 83 floods, five landslides, three tree falls, two structural collapses, eight road cleanings, and four water rescues involving the removal of vehicles trapped by water.
Civil protection officials stated that National Road 114 is closed between Almeirim and Raposa, and individuals have been evacuated from flooded homes in Glória do Ribatejo, Salvaterra de Magos municipality. This area falls under the sub-regional command of Lezíria do Tejo, encompassing the municipalities of Almeirim, Alpiarça, Benavente, Cartaxo, Chamusca, Coruche, Golegã, Rio Maior, Salvaterra de Magos, Santarém, and Azambuja.
By noon, 219 firefighters and 99 vehicles had been mobilized, with no municipal emergency plans activated. There are no reported electricity or communication outages, nor incidents at shopping centers or other infrastructures.
According to E-REDES, the district of Santarém is among the three most affected by electricity outages due to the Cláudia depression.
The company reported that approximately 13,000 electric customers were without power at 10:30 AM in the districts of Lisbon, Santarém, and Setúbal. E-REDES teams are on “constant alert and mobilized on the ground” to quickly resolve the situation.
Civil protection indicates that the weather forecast suggests adverse conditions will persist, with updates expected in the afternoon.
