The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) reported 2,212 incidents from 00:00 Thursday to 07:00 today, mostly involving fallen trees, flooding, and road clearance, with 59% of these incidents being floods.
ANEPC noted the deployment of 7,018 operatives and 2,622 land resources, with a predominant focus on the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Setúbal, the Algarve region, and the district of Leiria, in addition to Coimbra and Santarém on a smaller scale.
In addition to the orange warnings issued by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) for Setúbal and Faro for “persistent rainfall, occasionally heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms,” Beja is also under the same warning on Saturday due to rain from 09:00 to 15:00, and “west/southwest waves of 4 to 4.5 meters until 21:00” along the Vicentine coast.
A similar wave height is expected along the Algarve coast, the Setúbal Peninsula, and greater Lisbon this weekend.
A yellow weather warning remains in effect across mainland Portugal due to “occasionally heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms,” and along coastal regions due to “waves of four to five meters” until Saturday night for now.
