“The Prime Minister has come here to announce a pittance to pensioners. A one-time payment in September with electoral motives. It’s nonsense, yes, a sham, yes, Mr. Prime Minister. And then the populists are us…”, stated the deputy.
During a speech in the parliamentary debate on the state of the nation, Felicidade Vital remarked that “the Portuguese people are tired of being deceived, tired of working a whole life only to receive miserable pensions, while the system’s cunning ones, the protected illegals, live off subsidies, have social housing, occupy the homes of those who work and still commit crimes against women and children.”
“With Chega, Social Security will no longer be the haven for opportunists and will return to being what it should be, a pillar of support for those who have contributed to the country and not a reward for those who only leech off what others build with sweat and tears,” she declared.
The deputy also challenged the Prime Minister to “have the courage to reform the system, which is on the brink of moral collapse, and truly defend the Portuguese.”
The Government is set to approve on Friday a new extraordinary supplement for all pensions up to 1,567.50 euros, ranging from one hundred to two hundred euros, to be paid in September, the Prime Minister announced today at the opening of the state of the nation debate.
According to Luís Montenegro, the extraordinary supplement will be paid in September and will amount to 200 euros for pensions up to 522.50 euros, 150 euros for pensions between 522.50 euros and 1,045 euros, and will be 100 euros for all pensions between 1,045 and 1,567.50 euros.
