Banks of the Pavia River in Viseu host the Trip festival

The banks of the Pavia River will host a summer festival open to all ages, featuring installations, participatory workshops, children’s performances, samba circles, concerts, and a global flavors market.

The event invites “everyone – families, neighbors, visitors – to celebrate culture, connection, and diversity in one of the city’s most unique green spaces” at no cost.

“The riverside becomes a community stage where interactive installations, creative workshops for all ages, samba circles, world flavors cuisine, family performances, contemporary circus, and live music come together.”

The festival organizers describe July 6 as “a day for celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the joy of being together.”

“Since 2022, the Trip Festival has been revitalizing the Parque Linear do Rio Pavia, a frequently overlooked riverside area near Bairro da Balsa, through accessible and engaging cultural programming that strengthens local community bonds and highlights diversity.”

The event will kick off with installations ‘Sononautas’ by the Sonoscopia collective and ‘Where all the problems go away’ by Maria Imaginário, a capoeira workshop led by Professor Felix, and the ‘Contextura’ workshop by Romana Vieitas.

For those not bringing their own meals, the Mercadinho Gastronómico, organized by the Casa do Brasil Association, will offer culinary delights. The samba circle will be animated by the group Samba sem Fronteiras, featuring musicians Luca Argel, Saulo Giovannini, Frankão, Sérgio Guri, and Felipe Vargas.

Other highlights include ‘Álbum de Família’, a children’s creation by Costanza Givone (an associated artist of the Circolando company), and the concert “Músicas para dar a volta ao mundo da dona Arménia”, with direction, music, and lyrics by Ana Madureira and Vahan Kerovpyan.

Circus arts will also be showcased, with Joana Carmo Martins presenting ‘Carmim’. The closing concert, in the late afternoon, will feature the music project Bandua, a duo composed of Tempura the Purple Boy and Edgar Valente.
