These olympiads, which concluded today in Armenia, Colombia, commenced on the 7th of this month, and the result achieved by the Portuguese team, coordinated by professors Pedro Oliveira and Maria Margarida Roque, “positions Portugal among the most prominent countries in this edition,” as stated by the Ordem dos Biólogos in a press release today.

In the same document distributed to the media, the president of the Ordem dos Biólogos, Maria de Jesus Fernandes, described this accomplishment as “a source of national pride.”

“Our students have demonstrated to the world the quality of science and biology education in Portugal,” the president said, adding that these medals “are the result of the talent, hard work, and dedication of these young people and the teachers who support them throughout the year.”

The Ordem dos Biólogos further emphasized that these olympiads are “one of the most significant international competitions in the discipline” and “an opportunity for cultural exchange and forming bonds among young people from different countries.”
