“I only came to celebrate the 25th of April and the 1st of May. Everything I said is said, and well said,” stated Manuel Castro Almeida to journalists at the prime minister’s official residence.
When asked if he regretted suggesting that the blackout could have been caused by a cyberattack, he replied, “Of course not.”
On Monday, in a statement to RTP 3 shortly after the blackout, the Minister for Territorial Cohesion admitted that the power failure could potentially be due to a cyberattack.
“There is indeed that possibility,” the minister noted, highlighting that he still had limited information, which was unconfirmed.
Manuel Castro Almeida considered that, “given the scale,” it could be “compatible with a cyberattack.”
