Abody was found on Monday morning at Praia de Caxias, in Oeiras, district of Lisbon.
According to what a source from the Paço de Arcos Fire Brigade told Notícias ao Minuto, the body “was found near the rocks” and is in an “advanced state of decomposition”.
The same source also said that the victim, a man who was probably between 30 and 40 years old, appeared to have been in the sea “for a few days”.
Notícias ao Minuto questioned the National Maritime Authority about the possibility of this body being that of one of the victims of the shipwreck in Troia on the 7th, but Commander José Sousa Luís explained that it was “very unlikely”. The boat in question was carrying five people. The boat’s owner was rescued, but the remaining four occupants did not suffer the same fate. Two bodies, whose victims were aged 11 and 21, have been recovered, but two people, aged 30 and 45, are still missing.
The same official said that the body may be that of a person who went missing in February in the Lisbon port area.
The alert was issued at around 9am and, about an hour later, the body is being removed from the site.
In addition to the Paço de Arcos Fire Brigade, the Maritime Police, the Public Security Police and the VMER are on the scene.
