The alert was raised at 16:42 by a marina employee, prompting the deployment of officials from the Douro Maritime Police Command and crew members from the Foz do Douro life-saving station.
Additional responders at the scene included members of the Porto Fire Department, Porto and Rio Tinto Volunteer Firefighters, the Judiciary Police, and INEM, as stated by the AMN in a report.
“Upon arrival, it was found that the body was floating in the water and was removed by divers from the Porto Fire Department, with INEM’s physician officially certifying the death,” the report added.
Following investigations by the Judiciary Police and in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the body was transported to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in Porto by the Porto Volunteer Firefighters, according to the AMN.
