
The body of a man was discovered on Saturday afternoon, August 30, at Alcochete beach, as announced by the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
In a statement released on Sunday, AMN disclosed that the alert was raised at 19:20 through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa).
Responding to the alert, personnel from the Costa da Caparica Maritime Police Station, as well as members of the Alcochete Volunteer Firefighters and the Civil Protection, were mobilized.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed that “it was the body of a man.”
“The Health Delegate carried out the death verification procedure, and after contacting the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the body was transported to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in Lisbon by the firefighters,” the statement read.
The Costa da Caparica Maritime Police Station is handling the case, whose causes remain unknown.
