The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have recovered the body of the Portuguese-Israeli hostage Idan Shtivi, who was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023, in Gaza.
“The body of Idan Shtivi, who was held hostage for 693 days in Gaza, was recovered in a joint operation by the IDF and the Internal Security Authority (ISA), alongside the body of Ilan Weiss,” announced the organization on Saturday on the social network X (Twitter).
Israeli authorities noted that the 28-year-old “was murdered and kidnapped by Hamas terrorists in the Tel Gama area, in southern Israel.”
“Before his death, he acted heroically to help evacuate and save many others attending the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023. May his memory be a blessing,” they added.

It should be remembered that the death of Idan Shtivi was confirmed on October 7, 2024, one year after the attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel.
“We express deep consternation for the death, confirmed today, of our fellow citizen Idan Sthivi, one of the many hostages of Hamas, and we extend heartfelt condolences to his family,” read the statement released at the time by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
