“It is a female body, but it is impossible to determine the age because it is in an advanced state of decomposition. The Judiciary Police were on site and are now in charge of the case,” stated Salvado Pires.
The body, which has clearly been in the water for a long time due to its level of decomposition, washed ashore on Leirosa beach, in the parish of Leirosa, municipality of Figueira da Foz, Coimbra district.
According to the commander, the alert was given at 08:30 by the emergency number, 112. Firefighters from Figueira da Foz, along with Civil Defense forces and the National Republican Guard (GNR) from Paião, Figueira da Foz, were present.
Officials from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), the Maritime Police, and the Judiciary Police also attended the scene.
