“We can and should, in partnership, build logistical platforms of the Atlantic Lusophony, creating value based on our insular geography,” stated Bolieiro during the ceremonial session commemorating 50 years of Cape Verde’s Independence at the City Hall of Angra do Heroísmo, on Terceira Island.
The leader of the Azorean executive emphasized in a press release that “celebrating 50 years of Cape Verde’s independence is also a reason for celebration, at a time when Portugal marks five decades of democracy.”
The official highlighted the common identity shared by the two peoples, rooted in insularity and a universalist vocation, noting that “the insular condition is at the genesis of the identity [of both archipelagos].”
José Manuel Bolieiro stressed that both archipelagos possess “a privileged Atlantic positioning,” and value should be created based on insular geography.
