Book brings together Montenegro, Cavaco, Passos, Mendes, and Cotrim in parliament

Luís Montenegro and Aníbal Cavaco Silva arrived together, accompanied by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, for the launch of the reissue of the book “Francisco Sá Carneiro: Solidão e Poder” by Maria João Avillez.

In the Senate Room, the presidential candidate supported by PSD and CDS-PP, Luís Marques Mendes, was already present, and both Montenengro and Cavaco Silva made a point of greeting him.

Sitting nearby was Pedro Passos Coelho, although there was no visible greeting from the current government leader as he arrived to meet the former prime minister.

Shortly afterward, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco—seated between Montenegro and Cavaco Silva—rose from his seat to greet the former PSD leader, in whose government he once served as minister, just as Marques Mendes had done earlier.

The event also saw the presence of presidential candidate João Cotrim de Figueiredo, supported by IL, who had a brief conversation with Passos Coelho and greeted his rival Marques Mendes upon arrival.

Among other attendees were former PSD leader Manuela Ferreira Leite, IL leader Mariana Leitão, the Mayor of Lisbon Carlos Moedas, former Finance Minister Vítor Gaspar, and former CDS-PP deputy Diogo Feio.

Teresa Nogueira Pinto, shadow minister for culture for the Chega party, was one of the book’s presenters.

The book’s reissue includes postscripts from several PSD prime ministers, including the current one, as well as former leaders like Pedro Passos Coelho, José Manuel Durão Barroso, and Aníbal Cavaco Silva.
