The political campaign for the Livre party will see its two spokespersons, Rui Tavares and Isabel Mendes Lopes, actively engaging with constituents, sometimes appearing in different locations on the same day. The party plans extensive campaigns in Lisbon, Porto, and Sintra, key targets in these municipal elections, with both spokespersons visiting these areas on separate days to maximize their campaign efforts.
In Lisbon and Sintra, Livre forms part of alliances with left-leaning parties. They support Alexandra Leitão in the “Living Lisbon” coalition alongside PS, BE, and PAN, and ally with the Sintra socialists to support Ana Mendes Godinho. In Porto, Livre competes independently with candidate Hélder Sousa.
Rui Tavares will make several appearances in Almada, a municipality where Livre is running in coalition with the Bloco de Esquerda (BE).
The official campaign tour for Rui Tavares begins on September 30 in Lagos and Silves in the Faro district, concluding in Matosinhos and Porto. Concurrently, Isabel Mendes Lopes will finish her tour in Lisbon and Sintra on the same day.
Overall, the Livre campaign will visit 12 municipalities where the party is running independently, including Lagos, Setúbal, Caldas da Rainha, Aveiro, Santa Maria da Feira, Faro, Amadora, Porto, Braga, Barcelos, Vila Franca de Xira, and Matosinhos.
The caravan will also visit municipalities such as Silves, Seixal, Almada, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Loures, Albufeira, Gaia, Figueira da Foz, Leiria, and Oeiras.
Isabel Mendes Lopes will start the pre-campaign this weekend in Rio Maior, Santarém district. This year, from a total of fifty candidacies, Livre has 25 alliances with left-wing parties. None of the current deputies in the Assembly of the Republic will run as municipal candidates.
In the 2021 municipal elections, Livre secured eight local election victories, positions they still hold: one city councilor in Lisbon (Rui Tavares), one municipal deputy in Lisbon (Isabel Mendes Lopes), and representatives in Oeiras, Felgueiras, Vila Real de Santo António, and three assembly members in Penha de França, Lumiar, and Carnaxide and Queijas.
