‘Bordeira with Life’ promotes a gathering of people, memories, and sharing

The event will take place in the streets of Bordeira, known as the “accordion capital” and the birthplace of accordionist and composer José Ferreiro, creator of the corridinho ‘Alma Algarvia’, and Frederico Valério, composer and pioneer of fado-cancao.

This initiative, now in its fourth consecutive year, “celebrates the voice of the community, global music, local flavors, and the strength of open social interaction,” according to the organizers in a statement.

Organized by the Bordeirense cooperative, the event “represents the lively streets, the accordion that cradles the evening, the fado echoing from memory, the jazz and poetry intertwining voices, and the people who speak with courage and freedom,” the statement reads.

Performances will take place across three stages, “committed to culture and community life,” with roaming entertainment by the group Ao Luar Teatro throughout the locality.

The program starts at 4:00 PM with the Gathering – Identity and Freedom, followed by performances by Pedro Monteiro and Local Poets, ZH and VIL, Inês Faria and Rodrigo Veloso, Grupo Firmeza Batucadeiras de Almancil, Fala Povo Fala, and TikTek.

In a statement sent on Thursday to the Lusa agency, the organizers initially indicated that the group Tik Tek would open the event, but they have since corrected this information and the order of performing groups.

Fado sung by Yasmin da Silva, poetry by Enigmatic Jazz Shiffer, Claudia Tomé Silva, and Ana Simon, and Open Mic also form part of the program, which is expected to conclude at 2:00 AM on the 28th.

The Bordeira com Vida, with free entrance, also features local crafts exhibitors and dining spaces offering snacks from Algarve’s cuisine.
