The Public Security Police (PSP) has announced that traffic disruptions are expected during the passage of the delegations from the two football clubs involved.
After the match, similar traffic cuts will occur during the departure of the delegations, with specific times yet to be determined.
The PSP advises fans against driving to the stadium area to avoid “long waiting periods, both upon arrival and when returning home.”
Fans are also encouraged to arrive early to complete security procedures, refrain from engaging in violent behavior, and promote ‘fair play.’
The PSP requests fans to cooperate and follow the instructions of the sports venue staff.
Sporting and Benfica are tied at 79 points going into the 34th and final round of the I Liga, with Sporting hosting Vitória de Guimarães and Benfica visiting Sporting de Braga. Both matches will kick off at 18:00 on Saturday.
If the points remain tied, Sporting will win the championship due to their advantage in head-to-head results against Benfica (1-0 victory at Alvalade and a 1-1 draw at Luz).
The celebrations will require coordination between Braga and Lisbon, with the PSP describing the operation as “complex” and calling for cooperation from the fans.
“We expect everyone, whether in the stadiums [in Lisbon or Braga] or later at the celebration venues, to follow the PSP’s instructions. Our aim is to balance tolerance and provide a friendly environment, while ensuring law compliance,” stated Superintendent Luís Elias from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command.
