In the latest report from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), it was revealed that 48 million passengers traveled domestically, showing an 8% increase, while 13.8 million passengers were on international routes, marking a 15.3% rise.
This surge in international flights reflects a new record, attributed to expanding routes and tourism promotion efforts, according to the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.
The São Paulo International Airport continued to lead as the country’s main airport, accommodating 22 million passengers with an 8% increase. Meanwhile, the fastest-growing airport in terms of passenger traffic was Rio de Janeiro International Airport, with 8.2 million passengers and a 26% growth.
Following this, Brasília International Airport reported 7.5 million passengers, a 7.6% increase, and Belo Horizonte International Airport saw 6.2 million passengers, marking a 15% increase.
The aviation sector anticipates closing the year with over 123 million passengers, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
