Brazilian artist and the country’s Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, is set to perform a new concert in Portugal on October 22 at Lisboa Ao Vivo. This return follows her July performance at Casa da Música in Porto.
“The singer, composer, and current Minister of Culture of Brazil brings with her the energy of her memorable presentation in Porto, held in July at Casa da Música, reaffirming her artistic strength and connection to Afro-Brazilian roots,” according to a statement sent to the press.
The concert will feature “original compositions, career classics, and reinterpretations of artists who have directly influenced her, such as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, João Donato, Os Tincoãs, and Roberto Mendes, all filtered through her unique and powerful identity.”
Margareth Menezes, “recognized as the leading voice of Brazilian Afropop,” will take advantage of her ministerial vacation to mark 38 years of her career “with a performance marked by intensity and rhythmic diversity” in two concerts in Europe: one in Lisbon and another in Oslo, Norway.
“It is always very special to return to Portugal and now also to Norway. Every concert in Europe feels like a reunion with the audience, an energy exchange that strengthens me. I am preparing a joyful, danceable, powerful repertoire that celebrates my soul as a singer and my connection with Afro-Bahian music,” stated Margareth Menezes, quoted in the note.
The concert by Margareth Menezes is scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM on October 22 at Lisboa Ao Vivo in Lisbon. Tickets are already on sale for 30 euros.
