The FESTin organization announced that the film was also honored in the categories of Best Actor and Best Actress, awarded to Irandir Santos and Priscilla Vilela, respectively.
“In a rare cinematic gesture, the film awarded by the jury stands as a force of nature: intense, urgent, and poetic. Set in the Amazon, it transforms the landscape into a living body, where the river becomes a character and breathing is an act of resistance. The director, a daughter of the forest, makes her land not just a setting but an essence,” read the jury’s justification for the film’s selection.
At the Galeria Graça Brandão, a video art exhibition titled ‘Territórios Confluentes’ is on display until the end of the month. Curated by visual artists César Meneghetti and Miguel Petchkovsky, it features “brief works by artists from Portuguese-speaking countries.”
The FESTin, which concluded today in Lisbon, took place at City Campo Pequeno cinema, Fórum Lisboa, Liceu Camões, and the Avenidas, part of the Um Teatro em cada Bairro network.
