“The younger generation lacked a festival of this nature in the interior of the country, and we have come to fill that gap, ensuring performances with artists requested by the younger audience,” stated Pedro Alves, president of Viseu Marca, the organizer of the Feira de São Mateus.
The official noted that “in one space, festival-goers find a multitude of offerings that guarantee a well-spent day at Campo de Viriato,” with festival activities, varied gastronomy, and entertainment available.
“We are also offering new attractions to young emigrants and tourists visiting the Viseu region during the summer,” he added.
The Mateus Fest is part of the Feira de São Mateus, which began on August 7 and concludes on September 21.
In a statement, Viseu Marca mentioned that Matuê was “the most requested name by the public” for this year’s Mateus Fest.
“The artist is considered one of the most influential voices in current hip-hop, with millions of monthly listeners on streaming platforms,” it noted.
In addition to Brazilian artist Matuê, Portuguese artists Van Zee, Lon3r Johny, and ProfJam, along with DJ Perez, will perform.
Van Zee is known for hits like ‘Tempo,’ ‘Perto,’ and ‘Alma Nua,’ while Lon3r Johny and ProfJam will present their new joint project, ‘LONDON LP,’ recently released in London.
The venue’s gates will open at noon. Beyond the performances, the festival will feature tattoo artists, face painting, and a barbershop.
