The second edition of Mateus Fest will take place on August 29 and will also feature performances by Van Zee, Lon3r Johny, and ProfJam.
Pedro Alves, president of Viseu Marca, the organizing entity of the Feira de São Mateus, stated that Matuê was the most requested artist on social media to perform this year.
“Mateus Fest is very much aimed at the younger audience, and we believe that with the names on this year’s lineup, we will undoubtedly have a festival that meets the expectations of this audience,” he emphasized.
Pedro Alves noted that “there was no festival of this nature in the interior of the country capable of responding to what young people seek, and Mateus Fest has filled that gap.”
“It is also an event that attracts new audiences and offers new attractions for young emigrants and tourists who visit the Viseu region during the summer,” he added.
According to Viseu Marca, Matuê “is considered one of the most influential names in current hip-hop, with millions of monthly listeners on streaming platforms,” having even broken “the record of the world’s largest music platform (Spotify).”
Matuê had “the biggest launch ever for a Brazilian artist in the first 24 hours with the album 333,” with over 16 million streams in just 24 hours, it added.
The Brazilian rapper performed on Saturday at the MEO Arena in Lisbon.
The organization also highlighted that Van Zee has achieved hits such as “Tempo,” “Perto,” and “Alma Nua,” and has performed at numerous festivals, selling out the coliseums of Lisbon and Porto.
Lon3r Johny and ProfJam “are known as pioneers of a unique style and recently launched the album ‘LONDON LP’ in London in a new joint collaboration,” which is the project they will present in Viseu.
However, the festival is not just about concerts. There will be activities such as tattoos, face painting, and a barbershop on site.
The Mateus Fest is part of the programming of the Feira de São Mateus, which will take place from August 7 to September 21 this year.
