Brussels chooses two Portuguese projects for energy and mobility

The Madoqua energy production project in Sines, Setúbal, along with another project for the installation of accessible charging stations in key locations in Portugal and Spain, have been selected for funding by the European Commission.

The European Commission has selected 70 projects, including two in Portugal, to aid in decarbonizing transportation and strengthening the competitiveness of the European Union (EU) industries by installing necessary infrastructures to recharge or refuel different modes of transport.

These projects will receive over 600 million euros in funding from the Connecting Europe Facility to stimulate investment in urban areas, including ports and airports, as well as along sections of the trans-European transport network.

The MadoquaPower2X project, located in the industrial area of Sines, aims to become a global leader in the production of green hydrogen and renewable ammonia.

The Sines consortium comprises the companies Madoqua Renewables, Power2X, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and will receive 14.1 million euros in funding.

The project involves the production of green hydrogen using established electrolysis technology and the production of green ammonia.

Mota Engil has been selected for its project to install accessible charging stations on roads within the European transport network in Portugal and Spain, including for trucks, with an amount of 2.28 million euros.
