The European Commission has imposed a fine on Eurofield for providing “incomplete information” in response to a request made by the Commission.
The issue stems from a “simple request for information” sent by the European Commission in June 2023 during an investigation into the synthetic turf sector.
“After a careful analysis of Eurofield’s response, and after comparing the documents collected in this context, the Commission deemed it incomplete,” leading the Commission to request further clarification in October of that year.
“Eurofield once again responded in an incomplete manner,” the Commission added in the released statement.
In November 2024, the European Commission launched an investigation into monopoly rule violations based on the gathered information.
The executive under Ursula von der Leyen criticized the company, describing its response to the European Commission as “at least negligent” and stressed that responses are required to be “more careful, accurate, and complete.”
“If the parties involved had any doubts about the extent of the requested information, they could have asked the Commission for clarification, but they did not […] the breach committed by Eurofield is serious,” it added.
