
Among the projects listed are the Beariz–Fontefría–Ponte de Lima–Vila Nova de Famalicão electrical interconnection, the Portuguese hydrogen internal infrastructure, the Portugal–Spain interconnector, and the transborder segment known as BarMar.
The Ministry of Environment and Energy considers the European instrument “essential for guiding investment in critical energy infrastructures, identifying projects deemed vital for energy security, internal market integration, and meeting the European Union’s climate goals.”
Portugal’s inclusion “reaffirms the country as a reliable partner, with technically sound, environmentally robust proposals fully aligned with European energy transition priorities,” stated a communiqué.
The Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, highlighted in the communiqué that “these results demonstrate the exceptional quality of the technical work carried out by national teams, who presented solid, mature projects aligned with the European Union’s priorities.”
