
The first call, with a budget of €6.9 million, will finance collaborative projects among media organizations from different EU member states.
The goal is to strengthen the media sector, support sustainability, and address the challenges faced by professional journalism.
Another aspect of the project aims to support media pluralism and organizations that can act as intermediaries to establish and distribute funding to local and regional media, community media, investigative journalism, or media specializing in news of public interest. This also has a budget of €6.9 million, with up to €2.5 million available per project for a two-year period.
Brussels believes these funds are necessary to consolidate small online media outlets, promote the digital transition of traditional media, adapt their methods, provide a primary source of original information, and help ensure accountability.
