
The fire, which had three active fronts, was brought under control at 12:20 AM, according to a source from the Cávado Sub-regional Command.
Besides “burned scrubland,” no other damages were reported, the source noted.
By 2:15 AM, 78 personnel supported by 26 vehicles were on-site, according to the website of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
At that hour, the fire in Ponte da Barca, in the district of Viana do Castelo, was being fought by 574 personnel backed by 195 vehicles.
This is the largest fire included by Civil Protection in the list of ongoing rural fires (not yet under control/resolution) among the so-called “significant occurrences,” defined by their duration or the number of resources involved.
