A Rede Expressos bus caught fire this Sunday in the Requião area of Vila Nova de Famalicão, located in the Braga district.
The alert was raised at 2:20 PM when flames erupted while the vehicle was en route to Guimarães on National Road 206.
The Ave Sub-regional Command explained to Notícias ao Minuto that the vehicle was “completely consumed by flames” after it ignited. Local outlet O Minho also reported the incident, sharing a video of the bus burning here.
The only person on board was the driver, who was unharmed.
Traffic is completely blocked in that area, on the Famalicão-Guimarães route, as cleanup operations are underway. According to the same source, there was a “fuel spill” currently being cleared from the road.
As of 4 PM, 12 firefighters are on site, supported by four vehicles.
