An alert was issued at 5:22 PM in the area of Vale de Covado, in the parish of Oledo and São Miguel de Acha, Idanha-a-Nova, in the district of Castelo Branco, according to the Beira Baixa sub-regional command of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC). By 9:15 PM, the incident was “concluded.”
As night fell, the eight aerial units that assisted in combating the flames in the late afternoon were demobilized, with 173 personnel continuing operations, supported by 52 vehicles.
The flames did not threaten residences or affect circulation routes. The regional source from ANEPC added that some crews “will remain overnight to carry out mop-up work and consolidation of hot spots.”
