A 52-year-old man was arrested on July 14 for qualified fraud and breach of trust in the buying and selling of vehicles in the Albufeira municipality.
The investigation by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Coruche Territorial Detachment had been underway since March of this year, culminating in the execution of an arrest warrant in the Albufeira municipality and a search at a car dealership in the Seixal municipality, according to a statement from the National Republican Guard (GNR).
Authorities seized 26 vehicles with an estimated value of one million euros in the districts of Santarém, Lisbon, Viseu, Setúbal, Braga, and Coimbra, as well as a motorcycle, two mobile phones, and five computers.
This operation was reinforced by military personnel from the Criminal Investigation Structures of the Territorial Commands of Santarém, Lisbon, Viseu, Setúbal, Braga, and Coimbra, the Fiscal Action Unit (UAF), the Technical Support Unit (NAT), and the Operational Support Unit (NAO) of the Santarém Territorial Command, as well as the Albufeira Sub-Territorial Detachment of the Faro Territorial Command.

A woman had been sentenced to a fine of 300 euros, equivalent to 60 days, or to serve 40 days of subsidiary imprisonment. As she claimed to be financially unable, she was sent to Tires.
