
The price of apples per kilogram has risen, now exceeding two euros, as per a price monitoring survey by DECO PROTeste. The Gala and Golden apple varieties are among the food basket items that experienced the most significant price increases in the past week.
“Purchasing a kilogram of apples can now cost more than two euros. In the past week, the price of Gala apples rose by 24 cents (+12%), and Golden apples increased by 15 cents per kilogram, respectively. Currently, a kilogram of Gala apples costs an average of 2.23 euros, while a kilogram of Golden apples may be priced at 2.11 euros,” stated the consumer protection organization’s announcement.
However, the cost of the food basket containing 63 essential items monitored by DECO PROTeste decreased by 46 cents (0.19%) over the last week, now totaling 238.95 euros.
Between April 30 and May 7, aside from Gala and Golden apples, the most significant percentage price increases were observed in products such as frankfurter sausages (+13%), spiral pasta (+13%), and fiber cereals (+11%).
