
Natural disasters caused $135 billion (€116.6 billion) in global economic losses in the first half of the year, compared to $123 billion during the same period last year, according to a preliminary estimate released today.
Damage from wildfires in Los Angeles and severe storms in the United States increased the bill for insurers from natural catastrophes to $80 billion (€69.1 billion), up from $62 billion (€53.6 billion) in the first half of 2024, Swiss Re announced in a statement.
