BY THE MINUTE: 4-year Government? Chega leaves a warning; PS accuses PM of “plagiarism”

The program of the XXV Constitutional Government is being presented this Tuesday morning, June 17, at the Assembly of the Republic, starting with an unlimited-time address by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro.

Following the initial presentation by the Government leader, there will be an hour and a half allotted for the first questions and answers to the ten political forces present in the XVII legislature’s hemicycle, beginning with Chega – now the second largest parliamentary party – followed by PSD, PS, IL, Livre, PCP, CDS-PP, and the single deputies from BE, PAN, and JPP, the sole newcomer.

Subsequently, around four and a half hours of debate on the document will occur, with various ministers expected to deliver remarks during the parliamentary afternoon.

On Wednesday, June 18, the closing session will be held, featuring approximately two hours of speeches from the parties (this time in ascending order) and the Government, followed by the vote on the PCP’s motion to reject the document, which both PS and Chega have already stated they will block.

Only after the Government program is assessed and not rejected will the XXV Constitutional Government, which took office on June 5, fully assume its responsibilities.
