
The Standing Committee of the Parliament is set to discuss the causes behind the recent energy supply disruption in Portugal this Wednesday, with government representatives in attendance.
The request for this debate was initiated by the Communist Party (PCP), which highlighted “vulnerabilities and issues” present in the national electricity system that require assessment, specifically concerning sovereignty.
A widespread power outage affected both Portugal and Spain on Monday, starting at 11:30 AM, and authorities have yet to provide an explanation.
Consequences of this “blackout” included airport closures, transportation and traffic congestion in major cities, and fuel shortages.
