BY THE MINUTE: Government presents (and discusses) program today. Follow here

The program of the XXV Constitutional Government is being presented on Tuesday morning, June 17, at the Assembly of the Republic, with an opening address by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, with no time limit.

Following the Prime Minister’s initial presentation, there will be an hour and a half allocated for the first round of questions and answers involving the ten political forces present in the XVII legislature, starting with Chega – now the second-largest parliamentary party – followed by PSD, PS, IL, Livre, PCP, CDS-PP, and the sole representatives from BE, PAN, and the new entrant, JPP.

This will be followed by approximately four and a half hours of debate on the document, with interventions expected from various ministers throughout the parliamentary afternoon.

On Wednesday, June 18, the closing session is scheduled, featuring around two hours of speeches from parties (this time in ascending order) and the Government, followed by the vote on the PCP’s motion to reject the document, which both PS and Chega have announced they will block.

Only after the Government’s program is considered and not rejected will the XXV Constitutional Government, which took office on June 5, be fully operational.
