Cafe in Campo Maior will join the national network of Ciência Viva Centers

In a statement, the CCC announced the signing of a membership protocol with the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture during the 26th Meeting of the Ciência Viva Centers Network, held in Campo Maior.

Part of the Delta Cafés group, the CCC is now the third scientific dissemination center in the Alentejo region to join the network, following the Mina de Ciência – Centro Ciência Viva do Lousal in the Grândola municipality, Setúbal district, and the Centro Ciência Viva de Estremoz in the Évora district.

Covering a total area of 3,426 square meters, the CCC offers scientific knowledge, interactive activities, and training spaces, aiming to provide an educational experience to visitors.

Inspired by the world of coffee, the CCC encompasses various knowledge areas, from the plant-to-bean cycle to roasting and consumption models. Its mission is to promote science and sustainability related to coffee.

By joining the project, the CCC will now be part of a collaborative network that hosts two annual meetings of center directors and various training activities aimed at monitors.

These initiatives aim to foster knowledge sharing, experiences, and best practices among the network’s different centers.

Rosália Vargas, president of the Ciência Viva Centers, emphasized in the statement that the managing entity boasts a “dynamic network in continuous expansion” in “close collaboration” with local authorities, scientific institutions, companies, researchers, and the educational community.

“The integration of the CCC into the network strengthens the mission of Ciência Viva, which has been promoting scientific and technological culture for 29 years,” she adds.

João Manuel Nabeiro, chairman of Delta Cafés, also mentioned in the statement, believes that by joining the network, the CCC reinforces its “commitment to inspire generations” through science, sustainability, and the appreciation of coffee as a product of knowledge and culture.

“This step strengthens our mission to bring the public closer to science and innovation, promoting learning where curiosity turns into discovery, with coffee serving as a starting point to explore multiple areas of knowledge,” he considers.

The statement also notes that the 22 centers will continue to “promote scientific and technological culture throughout the country,” keeping up with the “growing interest” of families, tourists, and schools in science awareness and democratization initiatives in Portugal.
