The Public Security Police (PSP) has dismantled an illegal dormitory created in a café located in Olivais, Lisbon.
The owner of the establishment, described as a “non-European citizen,” had excavated land in the building’s foundation area “without authorization or informing the Lisbon City Council” to create an “illegal storage space” used as a dormitory.
The basement was being improperly used by the owner and another individual for residential purposes.
According to the PSP statement, the dormitory was discovered during an inspection operation targeting dining and nightlife establishments in the Lisbon neighborhoods of Alvalade, Olivais, and Parque das Nações.
