Caixa Alfama Festival honors Maria da Fé on the 26th and 27th of this month.

In Alfama, 12 stages will be set up, including locations at the Cruise Terminal Terrace, Fado Museum, Abreu Advogados auditorium, Largo Chafariz de Dentro, and the churches of Santo Estêvão and São Miguel, as well as the Dr. Magalhães Lima Cultural Center (CCDML), Grupo Sportivo Adicense (GSA), Sociedade Boa União (SBU), Memmo Alfama Hotel, and Largo de São Miguel.

Maria da Fé, with a career spanning over 50 years and known for hits such as “Cantarei até que a Voz me Doa,” “Fado Errado,” and “Valeu a Pena,” will be honored on the 27th during a live edition of the television program “Em Casa d’Amália” on the festival’s main stage.

This program, coordinated by host and fado singer José Gonçalez, will feature performances by Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Camané, Jorge Fernando, and guitarist José Manuel Neto, in addition to Maria da Fé.

On the festival’s opening day, Gisela João, Katia Guerreiro, celebrating 25 years of her career, and brothers Helder Moutinho and Pedro Moutinho with the show “Os Poetas Convidados” will perform on this stage.

The opening day’s lineup also includes musicians Pedro Joia on classical guitar and José Manuel Neto, with Viviane presenting “Fado Mediterrânico” at CCDML, and the group Bandidos do Cante inviting guitarist Bruno Chaveiro.

Other artists scheduled to perform on the opening day are fado singers Luís Caeiro, Maura Airez, André Batista, and Lenita Gentil. At the Santa Maria Maior Stage in Largo do Chafariz de Dentro, four fado singers, Pedro Galveias, Yola Diniz, Jaime Dias, and Ana Marta, will be featured.

Performers for the lineup on the 26th include Miguel Moura, Maria Emília, Diana Vilarinho, Sara Paixão, Nani Nadais, Liliana Luz, Filipa Ferreira, musicians Luís Petisca, Armando Figueiredo, Filipe Larsen, Zé Maria and Teresa Brum, Dinis Lavos, and Manuel Gama.

The festival also features the “Fado à Janela” initiative in Largo de São Miguel on the 26th and 27th, with musicians Jorge Silva, Miguel Monteiro, and Gonçalo Cercas, dedicated to Portuguese guitar.

On the 27th, alongside the tribute to Maria da Fé and performances by Marco Rodrigues and Alexandra on the main stage, the lineup includes the project “E toda ela era Fado” featuring Ana Sofia Varela, Tânia Oleiro, Ana Margarida Prado, and Matilde Cid, as well as the presentation of “Sopros e Guitarradas” by Kajó Soares (saxophone and Portuguese guitar) with fado singers António Pinto Basto, Teresa Tapadas, Carolina Varela Ribeiro, and Gustavo Pinto Basto, also on guitar, Jorge Baptista da Silva, Valéria, Vânia, and Natalino de Jesus.

The final day’s lineup also includes Vítor Miranda, Lena Silva, Luís Caeiro, Carla Morato, José Clemente, Mariana Correia, Afonso Lebre, Rodrigo Rebelo de Andrade, Teresa Brum, Rão Kyao, Diogo Ferreira, and Francisco Moreira.

The various fado houses in Alfama are joining the festival, namely Porta de Alfama, Alfama Grill, Tasca do Jaime, and Boémia LX Sé on the 26th, and on the following day, A Baiuca, As Lucindas, São Miguel de Alfama, and Esquina de São Miguel, in partnership with the Alfama Neighborhood Merchants Association.
