The reopening of the street was initially scheduled for 6:30 PM on Monday. However, the Civil Protection only removed the barriers that were preventing passage by 11:00 PM.

A memorial has been established along the street in tribute to the victims of the tragedy, where people have placed flowers, plush toys, balloons, and other objects.

What Will the Lisbon City Hall Do Following the Tragedy?

The Lisbon City Hall approved proposals on Monday, September 8, from PSD/CDS-PP, PS, and PCP to address the elevator accident, ranging from victim support to establishing a transparency portal.

The proposals were adopted mostly unanimously during an extraordinary council meeting, as noted by the vice-president of the municipality, Filipe Anacoreta Correia (CDS-PP). Although there was an effort to consolidate the three documents into one, this was not feasible, and each was voted on separately.
