The performances by the duo from São Tomé and Príncipe and Portuguese artists will also feature Luso-Canadian singer-songwriter Nelson Sobral, Boston-based Cape Verdean-American singer Assol Garcia, and the Portuguese duo Némanus.
The gala, showcasing a variety of musical genres, will take place at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island, USA, on April 25, 2026.
Since 2013, the IPMA has been recognizing music produced in the Lusophone world, offering a platform for emerging and established artists in an American state with a significant Portuguese presence.
“According to a study by the University of Lisbon, one in every 12 residents of Rhode Island has Portuguese ancestry, highlighting the state’s deep cultural ties with the Lusophone world,” the IPMA organization stated in a communiqué sent to Lusa.
On a night dedicated to celebrating the community, music, and diverse sounds of the Portuguese diaspora, numerous award categories will be contested, including rock, rap, fado, pop, best music video, or new talent.
Portuguese-descended artists living anywhere in the world have until November 30 to submit their music or music video for nomination consideration.
The IPMA also announced a collaboration with the podcast “The Heart & Hustle of Portugal.” This partnership features a special season focused on music, presented by Tony Gonçalves and distributed by Expresso and SIC.
Weekly episodes will be dedicated to conversations with Portuguese talents, members of the diaspora, and international artists sharing a significant connection with Portugal, including Dino D’Santiago, Tim from Xutos e Pontapés, and DJ Kura, the IPMA organization further indicated.
