The Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, said today that “campaign commitments are to be kept”, when asked about the decision to change the Government’s official logo, on his arrival in Óbidos for an informal meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Asked if he regretted changing the logo, he replied: “That’s what was missing.”

“Campaign commitments are to be kept, and that was one of them, and I don’t want to shy away from that. And I want to say that those who might think that we’re bothered by the news they make about us, don’t be,” added the Prime Minister.

The members of the XXIV Constitutional Government arrived in Óbidos at 09:30 by bus. At the Porta da Vila, Luís Montenegro chatted for a few moments with farmers, with the media at a distance.

Afterwards, he walked to Óbidos Town Hall and spoke briefly to journalists.

The prime minister said that today’s informal meeting aims to bring all the new leaders together for the first time.

Luís Montenegro declined to talk about the process of choosing government leaders and did not answer whether or not he intends to present a proposal for a rectified State Budget, nor whether he intends to cut taxes this year.

The Prime Minister and the 17 ministers of the XXIV Government were sworn in on Tuesday, 23 days after the legislative elections. The 41 Secretaries of State were sworn in on Friday.
