Campaign enters the sixth day with some parties marking Europe Day

On the sixth day of the campaign for the legislative elections scheduled for May 18, the president of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, is set to begin his day in Porto de Mós, located in the Leiria district. He will then proceed to attend a luncheon with local officials in Pombal, also within the same district.

The AD (PSD/CDS–PP) delegation plans to spend the afternoon in Ovar, Aveiro, where they will interact with locals at Praia do Furadouro and observe the coastal defense construction work. Montenegro’s day will conclude in Porto, where he will engage in discussions with young individuals at the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs in commemoration of Europe Day, which is being observed today.

The Secretary-General of the PS, Pedro Nuno Santos, will be present in the districts of Guarda and Vila Real today. In the morning, he will visit the São Bartolomeu fair in Trancoso and then move to the district capital to meet the people of Guarda.

During the afternoon, Pedro Nuno Santos will interact with the community in Chaves and at 19:00 will hold a rally in Vila Real.

The Chega delegation begins the day with a street rally in Viana do Castelo, followed by a visit to the weekly market, culminating with a dinner in Bragança.

In Porto, during the morning, the spokesperson for the Left Bloc, Mariana Mortágua, is scheduled to visit the Aldoar Neighborhood. Later in the afternoon, Francisco Louçã, the top candidate for the Braga electoral district, will join the Left Bloc delegation in Guimarães. He and Mariana Mortágua will address the initiative dubbed “taxing the rich.”

The Liberal Initiative campaign will be active in the Aveiro district, starting the day with activities in downtown Aveiro. At 15:30, the party led by Rui Rocha will head to Lourosa to visit a small and medium metalworking enterprise. In the evening, the liberals will host a large dinner rally in Santa Maria da Feira.

Meanwhile, in the north of the country, the PAN, with its spokesperson, will be visiting Porto, Gondomar, and Valongo. In the mid-afternoon, Inês de Sousa Real will travel to Lisbon to visit the Júlia Space, a social initiative aiding victims of domestic violence, accompanied by the Co-President of the European Greens, Vula Tsetsi, in recognition of Europe Day.

Further south, the CDU (PCP/PEV) campaign will start its activities at 15:00, with the Secretary-General engaging with workers at the gates of the technology firm Exide in Castanheira, Vila Franca de Xira, and later moving to Évora, where Paula Raimundo will take part in a parade and rally.

The spokesperson for Livre, Rui Tavares, is scheduled to visit the Polytechnic of Setúbal in the morning and will conclude the day in Almada with a rally to commemorate Europe Day, which will also feature the presence of the Co-President of the European Greens.

A total of 21 political forces are contesting these snap elections: AD (PSD/CDS-PP), PS, Chega, IL, BE, CDU (PCP/PEV), Livre, PAN, ADN, RIR, JPP, PCTP/MRPP, Nova Direita, Volt Portugal, Ergue-te, Nós, Cidadãos!, PPM, PLS, and those contesting only in one or both autonomous regions, MPT, PTP, and PSD/CDS/PPM.
