According to the ACT, the following holidays are mandatory:
- January 1
- Good Friday
- Easter Sunday
- April 25
- May 1
- Corpus Christi
- June 10
- August 15
- October 5
- November 1
- December 1, 8, and 25
It is important to remember that “in addition to mandatory holidays, the following may also be observed as holidays, pursuant to a collective labor regulation instrument or employment contract: Shrove Tuesday and the municipal holiday of the locality.”
“These optional holidays may be replaced by others agreed upon between employer and employee,” it is stated.
Can employment contracts or collective regulation instruments specify different holidays?
No, according to the ACT, “collective labor regulation instruments or employment contracts cannot establish holidays different from those mentioned above.”
