The Mêda+ festival is set to return, once again offering free entry, camping, and access to the municipal pools. Organized by the non-profit youth association Associação Mêda+, the event aims to promote “diversity and the promotion of alternative and emerging national music,” according to a statement.
Kicking off on July 23 with a ‘warm-up’ session, the festival will feature the Orchestra of Formation from Mêda and a performance by Vitória Vermelho, highlighted as “one of the standout new voices in the 2025 lineup,” as noted by the organizers.
This year’s festival includes three stages—Pé em Triste, Mercado, and Mêda+—set up in the city center. The lineup showcases a blend of “emerging and established names,” with a repertoire ranging from post-punk to hip-hop, jazz to folk music, and original works that reflect “the diversity of the contemporary Portuguese music scene.”
The first official day of Mêda+, on July 24, will see performances by Evaya, 800 Gondomar, Carlos Raposo, Romeu Bairros, Emmy Curl, Humana Taranja, and Máquina. The evening will conclude with a DJ set by Félix Gambino.
The subsequent day features Tyroliro, Girls96, Caio, Rossana, Manga Limão, Bombazine, Them Flying Monkeys, and Ohxala.
On the final day, July 26, the lineup includes Anti-Medo, Conferência Inferno, Marlow Diggs, and a special performance featuring Bia Maria and the Senior Academy of Mêda, followed by Amaura, Quadra, and Capicua. DJ Mike el Nite will close the festival.
Beyond its musical offerings, the 11th edition of Mêda+ will host ceramic and pottery wheel workshops, oil painting, watercolor activities, photography, and wine tasting sessions led by local producers during the mornings and early afternoons.
“This complementary cultural program strengthens the connection between the festival and the territory, promoting the heritage, knowledge, and tradition of the region,” emphasized the Associação Mêda+.
Since its inception in 2010 by the Associação Juvenil Mêda+, the festival has been known for featuring emerging and alternative Portuguese bands. Although it was paused from 2019 to 2024 due to funding issues, it made a return last year. Past participants include X-Wife, Mão Morta, Fonzie, Supernada, Wraygunn, Diabo na Cruz, Linda Martini, Capitão Fausto, Glockenwise, Tara Perdida, Paus, Orelha Negra, Best Youth, Moullinex, Samuel Úria, B Fachada, Valter Lobo, Stone Dead, Fonzie, Filipe Sambado, and many others.
