“Owners and operators of vessels are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety,” states the regional maritime authority in the notice.
Currently, warnings for strong winds and maritime agitation are issued by the harbor office and remain in effect until 06:00 on Wednesday.
These warnings are based on forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), which has placed the northern, southern coasts, and the island of Porto Santo under a yellow alert (the second level on a four-tier scale) for strong maritime agitation.
