Captaincy of Funchal issues strong wind warning for Madeira sea.

Advisories have been issued based on forecasts from the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA), indicating a gradual increase in wind strength to between 51 and 74 kilometers per hour overnight.

Visibility at sea is expected to be “good to moderate, occasionally poor,” with waves on the southern coast reaching up to 4.5 meters and approximately two meters on the northern part of Madeira.

Due to these weather conditions, the regional maritime authority advises the maritime community and the public to exercise caution in preparing for outings at sea, during time at sea, or in coastal areas.

Recommendations from the harbor master include reinforcing the mooring and monitoring of vessels, avoiding coastal walks and areas exposed to sea agitation, and refraining from recreational fishing in potentially dangerous locations.
