The workers’ union has reported that, with just one week remaining before June salaries are due, the management has yet to pay 75% of May’s wages. Additionally, meal and holiday subsidies remain unpaid.
The union further stated that TiN has imposed an undue burden on editorial teams, which have been striving to keep several magazines running amid a continuous loss of professionals and financial instability during a prolonged insolvency process.
Trust in News, the publisher of 17 magazines, including Caras, Visão, Activa, and Exame, faces unrest among its staff.
Editorial teams on strike demand a realistic plan for TiN’s sustainability and call for capital injection from the sole stakeholder, Luís Delgado, to stabilize finances.
In a meeting on May 30, employees expressed their frustration over receiving only 80% of their April salary in three installments, with 20% still unpaid, alongside May’s salary, its meal subsidy, and certain holiday allowances.
Established in 2017, Trust in News owns 16 media outlets across print and digital platforms.
