The Legislative Assembly of Madeira announced in a statement that as part of the celebrations, the “Madeiran cardinal will compose an original text to accompany an engraving by a Madeiran artist, a work symbolizing the autonomous journey and the significance of autonomy for the region’s identity and development.”
The statement noted that the president of the Madeiran parliament, Rubina Leal, met today in Rome with Tolentino Mendonça, extending an invitation for him to join the celebrations and highlighting “the importance of these official commemorations for the region.”
The Regional Legislative Assembly stated that the invitation was accepted, emphasizing that it is an honor to have “the participation of a personality so representative for all Madeirans.”
