Mayor Carlos Moedas emphasized the importance of culture, stating, “Culture is the secret source of innovation,” while highlighting that in the digital world, the only difference is “human nature through culture”.
The mayor also expressed his desire for Lisbon to be “the city where social justice meets innovation, and innovation meets culture and art”.
The Web Summit kicked off today in Lisbon, featuring over 900 speakers and more than 70,000 participants, according to event organizers, with artificial intelligence (AI) remaining a key focus.
The current edition marks the ninth year the tech summit is being held in the Portuguese capital, with expectations of over 70,000 attendees, more than 2,500 startups showcasing their products and services, and over 1,000 investors.
