“In the coming months, the political landscape will focus on the local elections. I began my political career as a mayor. It is at the local democratic level where the values of freedom, equality, and justice are most evident,” stated José Luís Carneiro.
He announced that “at the end of August, beginning of September,” the Socialist Party (PS) will “hold a Municipal Convention” for the “candidates to affirm their commitment to the values of freedom, equality, and solidarity.”
“Their candidacies will adhere to principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability. I believe that voters in their towns, villages, and cities will choose progressive projects over populist and conservative ones,” he said.
