The Secretary-General of the Socialist Party (PS), Pedro Nuno Santos, is set to conclude five days of thematic sessions on Tuesday. These sessions have been instrumental in drafting the 2025 Legislative Manifesto, which will serve as the party’s electoral program for the legislative elections scheduled for May 18.
The final thematic round will take place in the afternoon, focusing on “Justice and Internal Security.” Participants include José Luís Carneiro, a member of parliament who contested the PS leadership against Pedro Nuno Santos and previously served as Minister of Internal Administration, along with former ministers Eduardo Cabrita and Alberto Costa.
Also contributing to this session are André Fernandes, who recently stepped down as National Commander of Emergency and Civil Protection, lawyer Magalhães e Silva, former Secretary of State Pedro Tavares, and José Manuel Mesquita, a member of the Superior Council of the Judiciary.
The morning panel will concentrate on “Democracy, Transparency, and Fundamental Rights,” featuring speakers such as Ana Gomes, a former Member of the European Parliament and presidential candidate, and Mariana Manuel Leitão Marques, who has served as a minister, deputy, and MEP. Deputies Pedro Delgado Alves and Isabel Moreira will also participate.
Former deputy, anthropologist, and activist Miguel Vale de Almeida, sociologist and researcher Gustavo Cardoso, and the Vice President of the Portuguese Association of Bioethics, Helena Pereira de Melo, are among the contributors to the PS electoral program.
